How to Decipher What’s Fact From Fiction

News literacy is the ability to determine whether a story is reliable and analyze what we’re seeing, reading, listening to determine whether it’s factual and credible. It is an important life skill for kids. They will act on what they learned as they were children for the rest of their lives. So, news can make better informed citizens of the world. It can also help them learn how to form and share their own opinions and figure out where they stand on the issues. To practice news literacy, they identify what they’re reading, do quick research and analyze an article’s purpose that they want to watch.

 

The Lunar New Year

Chinese celebrate the Lunar New Year after it’s the spring festival. The dates change according to the phases of the moon. The new year began January 22, 2023. In fact, there are no school or online classes for two weeks. The food of the Lunar New Year is important. Relatives young and old get together over feasts. Families make hundreds of dumplings from time to time. Besides, The Lunar New Year is celebrated in South Korea, Singapore, Vietnam, other countries in Asia and in the US. Each year is represented by one of the 12 animals of the Chinese zodiac like dog, rooster, snake and so on. There are lots of red for the Chinese New Year because red is a lucky color to the Chinese. Red lanterns have always been a very significant source of hope. They are made by hand and add gold ribbon and Chinese characters. Kids are given red envelopes called money on the Lunar New Year day. It is considered lucky money so they are supposed to refuse it first and get it by winning games.

 

Busy Beaver

Beavers make dams to keep them safe. They create it in a pond where they can build a home. Beaver lodges provide protection from predators such as bears and wolves. They have an underwater entrance. In addition, there is a safe place to hide at a little high place. Beavers sleep, raise their family and keep warm there.

  

Mugs for Love

With the help of her mom, 11 years old Carolyn started mugs of love last year in Montgomery County Maryland. The idea is to fill mugs with different goodies for senior citizens. Many people participated in this event that tops up something on MLK day. The donation target was $500, but it was over $800. Carolyn and her siblings love giving back, plus they feel really great to support school, church, shelter, and seniors. They are grateful for this.

Nala is a wheaten terrier and Simba is a golden doodle. They are best friends, who love playing with family.

 

Game on! one-on-one with NBA STAR Chris Paul

Chris was very active and always fought his older brother. He was a good student so his grade is good as well. In fact, he fell in love with basketball thanks to his father’s passion for sports. In other words, Chris was affected by his father. He cherished that his dad is a football coach, and his mom is a basketball coach. He published a new book; its story is contained in the relationship and different challenges between his grandfather and him. His grandfather, who had been working at a service station, taught him hard work. Through this book, Chris wanted kids to learn to believe in themselves and understand the importance of the family.

하게 해줬다. 허락을 내포,하게 두다.
